Philip Bowes to defend commonwealth super-lightweight belt against Farrell
The Commonwealth Super-Lightweight crown was scheduled to take place at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool. It was an opportunity for Phillip Bowes to defend the Commonwealth super-lightweight belt against Tom Farrell.
Farell’s Last Time on Action
The last time Farell took part in these matches was in September 2017 during the WBA International strap. However, things did not go on well for Farrell, 16-1, who ended up losing out to Ohara Davies. For another time, Farrell has hinted to be included in the significant title action with Bowes.
Fighting for the Belt in the Past
It is not the first time that Philip Bowes, who plays for the Leytonstone is participating in the match. He had earlier stopped Benson Nyilawila from Tanzania in two rounds and managed to win the belt. The game took place at the New York Hall. It was one of the matches that saw the 34-year old compete and win for another time. He has been undergoing training offered by two coaches, Leon McKenzie and the former British Champion, Darren Hamilton. As of now, the Leytonstone’s is already targeting more titles just at 140 lbs.
Eye on the Commonwealth Title
For some weeks, Phillip Bowes has had his eyes fixed on the Commonwealth title. His fans also noted that they knew the player would take part in the match. By winning the WBA International strap, it was a good indication of great things to happen in this particular match.
Phillip can only be described as a tricky opponent, who usually has a relaxed style when playing. Coming from a good win, the match was expected to inspire Phillip and even make him so confident of emerging the winner.
As a way of preparing for this battle with Farrell, Phillip has revisited the events of the match he lost to Ohara Davies. He says that what happened to him on that fateful night is known to those who are close to him in the sport. Just like, it happens in any other market or day that was a lousy night in “office” for the player. He, however, notes out that he has had an excellent opportunity to rebuild over what happened to him on that night. He says that he feels ready for the oncoming game and would give it his best. He promises to be in great shape at the match and put up one of his best performances.
Part of a Big Night for Action
Any match that includes Farrell and Bowes are usually part of significant action in Liverpool. Fans have different expectations for the game. The main event has a lot in store for fans all across the globe. Liam Smith is expected to make his much-anticipated Liverpool homecoming where he will be pitted against Sam Eggington. Smith is the former WBO Super –Welterweight World Champion.
More Matches to Come
In another mouth-watering domestic showdown, two champions will take action down. Joe Hughes, who is the current European Super Lightweight Champion, will be battling out with Robbie Davies Jr., who is Liverpool’s British champion. Both belts will be up for grabs.
There are also other great matches that have occurred in the past. Scott Fitzgerald and Anthony Fowler, who are both former Great Britain teammates, had to settle their long extended feud. This happened at a dynamite Super-Welterweight clash between the two.
For the first time in almost three years, David Price will also have a match of his life. The popular heavyweight looks forward to competing afresh on the heavyweight division after his latest victory over Tom Little at the O2. Craig Glover also has some action going later on.
