Liverpool to challenge Everton to sign David Neres
Ajax star David Neres has been making waves across Europe this season and Liverpool is reportedly the latest club interested in signing the Brazilian.
Neres has had a successful season and has been significant to his club’s domestic and European success this season and his performance has caught the eye of many top clubs in Europe including Liverpool and Everton.
Merseyside Battle for the Talented Brazilian
The 22 year old currently has an impressive form at Ajax with a run of 7 goals and 11 assists in the last eight club games. The run began when the Dutch side beat Real Madrid 4-0 in the Champions League round of 16 and climaxed when he equalized for his team in Wednesday’s quarterfinal against Juventus. In addition, over the last international break, the Brazillian made his full debut for his country’s national team.
Currently, there are many talks about where the Brazilian could end up next season due to the rising number of suitors. Things are set to become even more heated as Liverpool joins Everton in the battle to win over the talented Brazilian. According to reports, both sides of Stanley Park want the striker.
Over the last week, Everton was linked with a move for the player with reports suggesting that the club is ready to offer as much as £45million. Jurgen Klopp’s side is reportedly showing a lot of interest in him as well and is tempted to make their move for the player this summer.
Neres’ Move to Liverpool May or May not be Good for his Career
If Liverpool signs a player with such a talent, it could be of huge benefit to their attack side. This is mainly due to the unconfirmed reports circulating that Liverpool’s winger Sadio Mane has been linked to a move to the Los Blancos over the summer.
The Spanish giant reportedly has a lot of money to shell out this summer and is in the process of revamping their entire squad. The Senegalese international, who is the Reds most performing attacker this season, has been fantastic.
Adding a player with Neres’ talent could be highly beneficial to Liverpool, especially after having possibly his best season yet in his professional football career. If Mane decides to leave, a spot in the starting eleven would be open for Neres who would play alongside fellow Brazilian Firmino.
However, if Mane chooses to stay on at Jurgen Klopp’s side, which is probable, then a move to Liverpool may not be the best option for Neres as he would likely spend more time on the bench.
Other Top Clubs Expected to Enter the Race
Paris Saint-Germain and particularly Borussia Dortmund have reportedly expressed a lot of interest in signing the striker too and the German club, who may lose English star Jadon Sancho over the summer, has even proposed a bid of £35million.
Reports say that the French giant has been monitoring Neres closely but are to make a substantial move. English side Arsenal wants the striker too and already reportedly to talks to sign the £35million winger.
A Bright Future
The Brazilian’s stunning goal against Juventus on Wednesday will definitely arouse a lot of interest in all the interested parties and soon he might prompt a bidding war if he continues with his impressive form.
Unless one of Liverpool’s front three leave this summer, then the striker would probably be better off at clubs like Everton, Arsenal PSG or Dortmund. Neres has a lot of talent that deserves regular playing time, and would be a great addition to any club that gets his signature.
Neres’ current contract with Ajax expires in 2022 but with his impressive form, not only Liverpool and Everton will try to lure him from the Dutch side but a host of other European top clubs as well.
