Internet gambling could generate between us$ 256 million and us$ 597 million this year for government coffers in Canada, however, the president of Loto-Quebec said last Thursday that lottery authorities have yet to tackle the thorny issues surrounding e-gaming.

Canadian lottery corporations are preparing to assess those points at an upcoming meeting.

Helpmate Crisis Center

Big Bucks Bingo was held at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds this last Sunday to benefit the Helpmate Crisis Center. Approximately $2,000 was earned to benefit the organization, according to Michelle Burt of Helpmate.

About 160 people were in attendence to enjoy the afternoon “getting lucky” and to visit in good company.

Lunch was served at 1 p.m. with bingo to follow from 2-6:30 p.m.

Poker is expanding its boundaries everyday worldwide and is targeting new sources of revenue. Despite cultural differences, the poker industry intends to reach China, as long as it doesn’t offend the government.

This game is said to be a global sport that crosses cultural boundaries and players from around the world can be found online. Dragon Ventures (a high-tech holding company) is one of first groups these to enter the untapped Chinese poker market.

One of the world's leading information search engines has drawn attention (and users) to "illegal" poker and gambling sites on the Internet by possibly violating Australia's Interactive Gambling Act of 2001.

The biggest target under investigation is Google Australia. The U.S.-based company, which operates search engines that target specific countries, has come under fire for allowing advertising links to online gambling and poker sites in its search results.

Most students at least have friends who play, if they do not play themselves. However, some serious poker players call into question the validity of these online games. Adam Friedman, IU alumnus and competitor in the 2005 World Series of Poker, has little faith in these internet poker sites.

The Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved a series of new gaming regulations that shorten the process for modifying surveillance systems, allow slot manufacturers to ship devices out of state to locations that allow gaming and allow slot machines in liquor stores.

Equipment manufacturers and casinos have been concerned that technological changes in surveillance systems have occurred so rapidly that industry leaders needed a means to react more quickly.

Las Vegas casino wagers on 'Spam'

An abridged version of the Tony-winning musical "Spamalot" will run for 10 years starting in 2007 in the casino that tycoon Steve Wynn built and named for himself, he said yesterday.

The show will follow in the footsteps of Cirque du Soleil and another Tony-winning musical, "Avenue Q," which opens Aug.27. But like many things in Vegas, it won't be the real deal: It'll run a half hour less than the two-hour Broadway hit.

Poker 425 Brings Live Coverage of WSOP

William Hill will be reporting live coverage of the World Series of Poker worth over $6milion, exclusive to the UK between July 4th – 16th. The Poker425 website and the Poker425 Sky Channel, hosted by William Hill, will deliver the only source of live coverage of the tournament within the UK.

Poker 425 will provide a daily news report from their poker guru Tony Kendell who will be reporting live from the event in Las Vegas.

London win Olympic bid

London becomes the first city in history to host three Olympics after it beat off Paris in the final vote for the 2012 Games held by International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegates at the IOC Session in Singapore Wednesday.

The British capital took the decision by just four votes, 54-50. London has held the Games on two previous occasions - in 1908 and 1948.
Paris, which hosted the event in 1900 and 1924, was making its third attempt in 20 years after defeats for the 1992 and 2008 Olympics.
