German police considers that there are several risks in the security system for the World Soccer Championship to be held in Germany, not only because an increasing violence has been detected among the “hooligans”, but also because there are many rumors about a possible Islamic attack during the matches.

According to a confidential study by the Criminal Research Federal Office, at least 21 of the 64 matches have to be considered “high risk” events. The main threats could be, according to this study, the inaugural math (Germany – Costa Rica), on 9 June, and the final match in Berlin, next 9 July.

The major danger for Germany 2006 Championship “is Islamic terrorism”, says the study. According to this study, the most dangerous matches would be those in which will take part any of the countries involved in Iraq war: United States, England, Spain, Poland and Australia.

The police director, Konrad Freiberg, has confirmed these rumors in public declarations published by Berliner Zeitung. There he explains that the major risk is not represented by Al Qaeda, but by the Islamic groups that live in Germany.
